Mitra Desai

Coming from the picturesque towns touched by Chattrapati Shivaji, Mitra calls the towns of Satara and Kolhapur, home. It is here that she did her early schooling and went on to study Interior Design and Law.

Your journey to Mitra Desai's research begins here:

Shitala

Following the trends of the time, she went to America for higher education where she completed her Masters in Criminal Justice. After a brief period back in Bharat, her husband’s job took the family to Australia where she has lived and worked for more than a decade now. She works in the Australian Public Service. Living away from home has only strengthened her bond to her Janma Bhoomi.

As they say…you can take the girl out to Bharat, but not Bharat out of the girl!

Mitra has enjoyed reading and sharing her fascinating finds, for as long as she can remember. She began her online storytelling journey in 2018 by posting writeup and Marathi audio notes on a blog “Letters to my son”. Such was the overwhelming response to her unique style of storytelling that she crafted a new identity for the stories she wants to tell – Tejomaya Bharat – Dazzling India!

She continues to research and share stories that throw light on India’s unacknowledged contributions on her youtube channel Tejomaya Bharat. She aims to inspire and motivate us to reconnect with our Indic roots. You can enjoy her podcast, articles and videos on her website www.tejomayabharat.com
